硅胶在色谱技术中应用最广，其在效率、硬度及性能方面均优于其他填料。硅胶填料分为A，B及C3种类型。A型硅胶为最早的通用型色谱填料，通常被金属污染，不适用于亲水作用色谱（HILIC）；B型硅胶为球形颗粒，金属杂质含量低，在中性到高pH(至少pH 9)范围内相对稳定；C型硅胶为“氢化硅胶”，与经典的硅胶在化学结构方面有很大不同，经典硅胶表面主要为极性硅醇基(Si—OH)，而C型硅胶表面主要为硅一氢(Si—H)基团，用“含水正相”(aqueous normal phase，ANP)描述在此类硅胶相上的分离，与“经典的”HILIC分离区别，然而ANP通常被认为是替代HILIC的另一名词。

Silicone is the most widely used in chromatographic technology, with superior efficiency, hardness, and performance compared to other fillers. Silicone fillers are divided into types A, B, and C3. A-type silica gel is the earliest universal chromatographic filler, usually contaminated by metals and not suitable for hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC); B-type silica gel is a spherical particle with low metal impurity content, and is relatively stable in the range of neutral to high pH (at least pH 9); C-type silicone is "hydrogenated silicone", which has a significant difference in chemical structure from classical silicone. The surface of classical silicone is mainly composed of polar silanol groups (Si-OH), while the surface of C-type silicone is mainly composed of silicon hydrogen (Si-H) groups. The separation on this type of silicone phase is described by "aqueous normal phase" (ANP), which is different from "classical" HILIC separation. However, ANP is usually considered as another term to replace HILIC.
