The 2015 China Environmental Status Bulletin shows that the number of days of ozone as the primary pollutant in most cities has increased. The VOCs in the atmosphere are the most important precursors for the production of ozone. They also have an impact on PM_(2.5) and become the focus of monitoring and control. They are included in the total control system. Non-methane total hydrocarbons have been used as indicators for the evaluation of VOCs in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Xi'an.
